Understanding Anesthesia-Induced Memory Loss

2015
Despite the widespread use of general anesthetics in operating rooms and intensive care units, the understanding of the mechanisms of action of these drugs remains limited. Increasing knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying general anesthesia is important both to advance drug development and to ensure appropriate use of currently available drugs. Anesthetics are also effective probes for exploring the biological basis of cognition and cognitive disorders.
