Una lectura vertical de la investigación transcultural sobre dirección de empresa: el caso español

1998
This paper examines the influence of Spanish cultures on cross-cultural management rresearch carried out from 1996 to 1995. Eleven surveys have been reviewed in order to find specific insight into managerial culture in Spain. This is not a thorough cross-cultural study of corporate management, but a bibliographic review, whar we call upright reading of cross-cultural managerial research. Managerial culture in Spain appears to stress the following traits: broad power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualistic approach, and femininity (sensitive attitudes). Croos-cultural comparision gives the opportunity to produce regional clusters relvant to the study of cultures. Research to date shows that Iberian, Latin European, and Hispanic clusters make possible a distinction of Spanish managers´ reference groups on most items from toher culsters such as Northern European, Asian and Anglo American.
