Fabrication and bonding behavior of phenalkamine resin based hybridized silver nano bio-composite laminates with less epoxy content

2020
In the present study, phenalkamine resin is obtained by processing cardanol resin which is extracted by cashew nut shell liquid (CSNL). The phenalkamine resin is used as base material and dupion silk fabric, a degradable natural protein is used as reinforcement material to improve both medical and mechanical properties. To enhance both mechanical and antibacterial properties silver nano particles are used as additional fillers. In this work an attempt is made to reduce epoxy resin content and increase phenalkamine resin content for obtaining eco-sustainable hybridized nano bio-composite laminates by performing successful trails, followed by fabrication using simple hand layup method and then bonding behavior of prepared bio-composite samples were analyzed using SEM. The morphology of materials are showing good bonding characteristics of fabric layers within the polymer matrix.
