WORK-LIFE OF WORKING WOMEN IN MALAYSIA:ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

2020
The aim of this edited book is to highlight the issues and challenges faced by Malaysian working women using nine empirical studies on working women from various professions in Malaysia including engineers, academics, nurses, and others. The primary motive of this edited book is to understand the reasons for the lower participation rate of women as compared to male participation in the labor market. Statistics have shown that women are better educated and want to work, however their participation is hindered by various work-life issues and challenges. The issues and challenges presented in this edited book include topics on self-esteem, career advancement, retention of women, work-life balance, organizational work-family support, work engagement, self-efficacy, career satisfaction, flexible work, gender discrimination, competence acquisition, and learning transfer. It is hoped that the results of the studies presented in this edited book could help shed light on understanding the lower participation rate of women in the Malaysian labour market.
