Basement Architecture in the Guajira Offshore Basin, Colombia

2012
Basement architecture in the Guajira Offshore basin, Colombia, is the result of a multiphase deformational history and likely structural segmentation that includes three main stages: a possible Mesozoic rifting phase, represented by graben and half graben geometries in the north; a converging phase since Eocene originated by the low-angle subduction of the Caribbean plate under the South American Plate; and a Neogene transcurrent phase that could be interpreted from strike-slip faults and associated pull-apart and transpressional structures.
