Caliper Disc Brake

1994
In order to produce a light and at the same time flexurally rigid disk brake calliper, the calliper is made of a composite material having a metal matrix with embedded ceramic particles. To avoid having to carry out the required finishing steps on the hard composite material, the calliper housing (1) is provided at least in the area of brake cylinder (2) and of pressure connection (3) with one or several inserts (4, 5, 11, 13) made of an easily workable material, preferably an aluminium alloy.
