Coil model for magnesium alloy strips and its heat transfer analysis

Abstract The analysis of the heat transfer in the magnesium coil in the radial direction by laboratory tests using a deformation simulator Bahr BTA 800 was proposed. Based on the obtained results, the equivalent thermal conductivity as the radial heat transfer was determined as a function of thickness, temperature and pressure, which was further integrated into the developed coil model. The validation of the model was carried out by the comparison of the calculated and measured temperatures during coil cooling. The results showed a good agreement between predicted and experimental data.
