Medroxyprogesterone and adenocarcinoma of the endometrium

1970
Treatment with medroxyprogesterone acetate of 31 patients with endometrial adenocarcinoma is reported. The hormone was associated with radiotherapy and/or surgery. In 2 cases treatment resulted in total cure verified histologically. Sterilization of lesions was obtained in 3 cases and total regressions of 1 year and 31 months respectively in 2 other cases. Positive response was noted in 18 other patients. Subjective improvement was noted by most patients. No side effects were observed in spite of the massive doses used. Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a useful adjunct to curative and palliative therapies of endometrial adenocarcinoma.
