A WHITE S ON A GREEN BACKGROUND--THE ROLE OF THE S-BAHN IN THE REGIONAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES OF BERLIN, CAPITAL OF THE GDR

The S-Bahn forms an important part of the short distance public transport system in Berlin. In conjunction with the BVB, the Berlin transport authority, it takes care of the majority of transport tasks. The S-Bahn operates the lines whilst the BVB acts as a feeder service. The S-Bahn carries over 700,000 passengers a day, most of them morning commuters.
