Synthesis and Characterization of New Aromatic β-Diketone and Its Transition Metal Complexes with Ni and Cu

A new aromatic β-diketone [1-(4-phenylmethoxyphenyl) -3-(4-tert-butylphenyl) propane-1,3-dione] was synthesized from the corresponding aromatic ketone and ester via the classical Claisen condensation in the prsenle of strong base NaNH2. Their structures and transition metal complexes with Ni(II)and Cu(II)were determined by means of elemental analysis,IR and 1H NMR spectra.
