Assessment of Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction Using Radionuclide Ventriculography in Patients with Acromegaly

1999
The aim of our study was to assess left ventricular parameters in acromegalic patients using radionuclide ventriculography. Ten patients and 20 controls underwent rest and exercise radionuclide angiography. During exercise, time to peak ejection rate (TPER) was longer in acromegalics without hypertension comparing to controls (150±22 msec vs 82±45 msec, respectively, p<0.05). Peak filling rate (PFR) was lower during exercise (6.0±1.3 vs 7.6±3.5) and time to peak filling rate (TPFR) was longer both at rest and during exercise(170 vs 126 and 144 vs 111 msec) in acromegalics than in controls. Conclusion: There are important alterations of systolic and diastolic function of left ventricle in patients with acromegaly.
