CT evaluation of carotid sheath lesions

Abstract Localising a neck mass to the carotid sheath on CT helps to narrow down the differential diagnosis, namely paraganglioma, schwannoma and lymphadenopathy. Although paragangliomas tend to show uniform contrast enhancement and schwannomas irregular enhancement, exceptions do occur. Angiography is still required to make this important differential.
