Redescription of Prionospio Banyulensis Laubier, 1966, and Re-Examination of P. Ockelmanni Pleijel, 1985 (Polychaeta, Spionidae)

Abstract Available types, newly collected topotypes, and additional North Atlantic material of Prionospio banyulensis Laubier, 1966 and P. ockelmanni Pleijel, 1985 are examined. The populations exhibit high degrees of similarity, and observed differences are not considered consistent enough for species separation; P. ockelmanni is accordingly synonymized with P. banyulensis. A neotype is designated for P. banyulensis.
