According to the present invention, when a user is to be made to recognize that a light-emitting element is lit, a coding unit generates, from information acquired from a transmission information holding unit, a series that has a bit count that is higher than the bit count of the information and a mark rate that is a first value, and, when the user is to be made to recognize that the light-emitting element is not lit, the coding unit generates, from information acquired from the transmission information holding unit, a series that has a bit count that is higher than the bit count of the information and a mark rate that is a second value that is lower than the first value (step S103). On the basis of the coded series, a light emission unit is driven such that the light-emitting element emits light or turns off (step S104).
