The invention discloses a method for calibrating a local discharge detection device employing a transient voltage method. The method is carried out under an experimental environment without obvious vibration or electromagnetic shielding; a metal flat plate with the fixed size and the even surface is selected as a test block; the RMS roughness of the surface does not exceed 1 micron; the to-be-calibrated local discharge detection device employing the transient voltage method is stably placed on the upper surface of the test block, so that the local discharge detection device is tightly attached to the test block; a sine signal and a pulse signal are exerted to the test block; the sine signal frequency is changed according to different calibration contents; the pulse signal amplitude and the repeating frequency are changed; test data are recorded; and the corresponding display value of the local detection device employing the transient voltage method is read. Thus the test on the working frequency band, the linear amplitude increment error, the pulse repeating frequency, the sensitivity, the minimal definition of the pulse amplitude, and the continuous working stability performance is achieved; the blank in the field of calibrating and metering of the local discharge detection device employing the transient voltage method is filled; and the method has a good application prospect.
