Characteristics of YBCO Thin Film Tapes Fabricated by Pulsed Laser Deposition

1999
HTSthin film tapes which consist of metal substrates, buffer layers, and YBCO films have been developed for power application. Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) was used to form the buffer layers and the YBCO films because of an advantage of high deposition rate. Inclined substrate deposition (ISD) method was developed to introduce biaxial alignment of buffer layers for high-Jc values. The YBCO film tapes whose lengths were up to 1 meter were divided into three types. The constitutions and characteristics of each type of YBCO film tapes were summarized including film thicknesses, fabrication speeds, bending tolerance characteristics, Jc-B characteristics.
