EL INFIERNO GALÉS: LA INDUSTRIA DEL COBRE Y EL VALLE DE SWANSEA

2009
Swansea was one of the first British Industrial Revolution’s main centres, and there the activity around coal mining and metallurgy of non-ferrous metals was incessant, being copper the most important product in that context. In fact, from the end of the 18 th century to halfway of the 19 th , Swansea was the leader in the global production of this metal, although its present landscape does not keep too much about it. This paper is a modest historiographical review on the impact of Swansea in the copper industry’s history. For this review we have compared primary and secondary texts between them and with the in situ analysis of the archaeological remains.
