Abstract: Objective: To study the pathogenesis of stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency and the effect of Xingpi Jieyu Decoction on depression based on the changes in corticosterone-inflammation-mitochondrial network. Methods: A 6-week chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) method was used to establish a rat model of depression which met the syndrome of stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency. The serum was collected at end of the 2nd, 4th and 6th week, and the levels of CORT, TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-6 and IL-10 in serum were detected by Elisa. At 2 and 6 weeks, the prefrontal cortex and the liver tissue were harvested for the observation of the mitochondrial ultrastructure under transmission electron microscopy.
