Power transmission device and a four-wheel drive vehicle using the same

1998
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and the weight of an apparatus and moreover reduce the number of parts by providing only two sets of power control circuits. SOLUTION: In a structure having two or more output axes such as a four- wheel drive vehicle, a clutch motor 30 and an assist motor 40 are prepared for the front wheels, while a rear wheel motor 80 is prepared for the rear wheel. For these three motors, a first and a second drive circuits 91, 92 are provided as inverters, and one drive circuit is coupled to one of two motors with a switch 93. Under the predetermined driving condition, for example, if the front wheels slip under the front wheel drive condition, connection for the drive circuit is changed to the motor for the rear wheels to drive the motor 8 for the rear wheels. As a result, three motors may be driven with two inverters to simplify the apparatus structure.
