Arterial stiffness is an independent predictor of cardiovascular risk [1]. It is therefore crucial to accurately estimate the arterial mechanical properties. The mechanical properties are reflected in the pulse wave velocity (PWV), which can be estimated from the blood pressure (BP) waveforms measured at two locations (tonometry). However, accuracy of tonometry is limited by reflections in the BP waveforms and errors in distance estimation between the measurement sites.Copyright © 2009 by ASME
