A Preliminary Study on the Performance Evaluation of Double Glazed Windows Affixed with Detachable Air Cap Frame - Based on Night time Conditions in Winter Season -

2016
Approximately, heat loss from windows utilized as part of building envelopes is 6 times greater than the heat loss that occurs from normal walls. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly improve the performance of windows in terms of comfort and energy saving. Recently, studies regarding the utilization of air caps as a low cost and highly efficient method to improve the heat insulation property of windows are being carried out. As previous studies have been carried out only for fixed and one-time air caps, it is necessary to conduct an investigation regarding detachable air caps according to different functions and conditions pertaining in each season. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to produce a detachable air cap frame and carry out a performance evaluation by comparing electricity consumption between previous double glazed windows and double glazed windows with an internal frame affixed with an air cap.
