Study of Vibration Sensing Technique Using Fabry-Pérot Interferometer with Optical Fibers

2019
The measurement results of the vibration using optical fibers are presented. We detected the vibration of the measurement object by measuring reflected light using the optical fibers. A Fabry-Perot interferometer in which an optical fiber and a metal mirror are opposed was configured as a displacement sensor. When vibration was imparted to the mirror, the fluctuation of the reflected power due to the increase and decrease of an air gap depending on the driving of the mirror could be measured. The optimum size of the gap between the optical fiber and the metal mirror was also investigated. In this report, it is stated that the Fabry-Perot interferometer with optical fibers can be used as a displacement sensor for minute vibrations.
