Medidas para proteger y promover la salud de los inmigrantes en España

espanolLuego de hacer una revision de las actuales circunstancias demograficas espanolas, que de acuerdo con los organismos internacionales y nacionales exigen la llegada a Espana de una inmigracion cifrada entre 240.000 y 100.000 por ano, el autor, Experto y Consultor de la Organizacion Mundial de la Salud en Africa y Europa, se ocupa de los aspectos sanitarios de los trabajadores inmigrantes en Espana, comenzando por las enfermedades importadas de sus paises de origen y las adquiridas en su permanencia en Espana, especialmente los accidentes laborales, mas frecuentes entre los inmigrantes. La patologia de adaptacion consiste, sobre todo, en trastornos psiquicos, en los que el desconocimiento del lenguaje suele ser su primera causa, ademas de la cultura y la religion. La poblacion de acogida espanola debe estar mentalizada para la llegada de los inmigrantes como factor de bienestar. Los inmigrantes deben ser considerados como un grupo de alto riesgo sanitario, por lo que se deben extremar los examenes de deteccion y vigilancia medica a su llegada a Espana y durante su permanencia, especialmente de la tuberculosis, de las enfermedades de transmision sexual y los trastornos m e n t a l e s . La educacion sanitaria y la correcta utilizacion de los servicios sanitarios espanoles, son fundamentales para el mantenimiento de la salud de los inmigrantes. EnglishAfter a review of the present demographic conditions of Spain, country that according the international and Spanish organisations need the arrival to Spain between 240.000 to 100.000 immigrant workers by year, the author, Expert and Consultant of the World Health Organisation in Africa and Europe, is engaged with the health aspects of the immigrant workers in Spain, beginning with the imported diseases from their native countries and those contracted in Spain, specially work accidents, more frequent among immigrants. The pathology of adaptation chiefly is made for psychosomatic disorders, on account of the unknown of the Spanish language. The culture and the religion of the immigrants are other important causes of inadaptation. The Spanish people may see the immigrant workers as a welfare factor. The immigrant people may be considered as a health high risk population. So, the examination for the prevention and promotion of their health are necessary at their arrival in Spain and during their stay, specially for tuberculosis, venereal diseases and psychosomatic troubles. The education on health and the correct use of the health services of Spain are of big importance for the good health of immigrant workers.
