SUICÍDIO E REDES DE APOIO PSICOSSOCIAL (CAPS): UM ESTUDO ECOLÓGICO NO ESTADO DE SANTA CATARINA

2019
Introduction: Suicide is a relevant public health problem and strategies to address it have yet to show clear results. Objectives: The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of suicide death rates and correlate the evolution of suicide risk with CAPS (Psychosocial Care Center) coverage rates in the macroregions of the state of Santa Catarina from 2007 to 2016 Method: An ecological, descriptive and analytical observational study with analysis of suicide deaths in the resident population of Santa Catarina, aged 15 years and older. Results: Suicide rates showed a increase trend, with 9.89 cases / 100,000 inhabitants. in 2007, and 12.08 cases / 100,000 inhabitants. in 2016. - an increase of + 2.3% per year in the period studied. In the same period, coverage rates of CAPS / 100,000 inhab. increased from 1.16 to 1.92, with an annual growth rate of + 5.9%. (Sp = 0.491, Beta = 0.337, p <0.005). The increase in suicide rates in the population of Santa Catarina by macroregion was accompanied by a proportional increase in CAPS coverage rates. Conclusions: The suicide death rates in Santa Catarina presented a trend of growth in the period studied, as well as the coverage rates of CAPS in all health macro regions analyzed. The weakly positive but statistically significant correlation between the two events studied indicated that it is not possible to consider any protective effect of CAPS in relation to suicide in Santa Catarina and its macroregions.
