Airborne Pollen of Toulouse, Southern France

1988
Abstract Three consecutive years of pollen sampling using the Cour's filter technique (1974) revealed the incidence and phenological details of atmospheric pollen in Toulouse including percentage of pollen grains causing allergic symptoms. The pollen catch at three stations in southern France is compared. In Montpellier the pollen season begins earlier with larger amount of pollen. In each spectrum, some taxa (Pinus, Alnus, Ericaceae, Betula, Salix, at Bordeaux; Gramineae, Quercus, Ulmus, at Toulouse; Fraxinus, Chenopodiaceae-Amaranthaceae, Plantago, Artemisia, Urticaceae, Olea at Montpellier) appear to be characteristic of the regional vegetation which is linked to the ecological parameters.
