Video blogs: a vehicle to support student-generated representations and explanations in chemistry

2015
Video blogs (or vlogs) offer a new dimension in multimodal learning because they are forms of student-generated media that require learners to actively participate in the process of developing explanations. A vlog is a video that involves the student narrating visual media as a result of reflection about the content or understanding (Parkes & Kajder, 2010). As in the case of a blog, a vlog enables the individual to communicate an explanation, perspective or position; however, this is generally without the interactive feature of an audience providing feedback through an online comments field.
