Is our commonly performed intracompartmental pressure measurement correct

1996
1. There exits a marked spatial inhomogenity of the intracompartmental pressure following liquid-instillation. 2. The measurement of the compartment pressure should be routinely performed close to the site of the injury, e.g. tibial fracture. Otherwise the measurement causes a serious underestimation of the actual higher compartment pressure resulting in delayed decompressive fasciotomy.
