From renaissance to renewal:evolution and inspiration of the renaissance of European and American inner cities

By studying the origin,evolution and lessons of the post-war inner city policies in Europe and the United States,this article firstly points out that urban regeneration is the latest form of the inner city policies in these countries.Then,from a comparative perspective,it discusses the distinctions of theoretical foundations,methods and contents between urban regeneration and renewal.Lastly,by combining the experiences in foreign countries with our practice in China,this article explores the direction of Chinese urban renewal.
