Outpatient laparoscopic hysterectomy

2001
Abstract Objective: To perform outcome analysis on and track patient satisfaction with the first 92 cases of outpatient laparoscopic hysterectomy. Results: There were no complications within the first 48 hours, and patient satisfaction was rated excellent. Preoperative and pathologic diagnosis are compared. Operative time, blood loss, specimens, and all complications will be reviewed. Surgical technique will be presented. Methods: Chart review and patient interview of 92 patients who had surgery performed at a freestanding outpatient surgical center. Postoperatively, all patients were discharged to home from the PACU department. Conclusion: Outpatient laparoscopic hysterectomy is a safe and well-accepted alternative to traditional inpatient hysterectomy.
