The spectrum of acquired immunedeficiency syndrome-associated testicular disorders

1994
As a result of the rapidly expanding epidemic of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), more urologists are encountering AIDS patients and are requested to treat many AIDS-associated urogenital manifestations. Urogenital tract maniL festations include an entire array of voiding symptoms, infections, neurogenic bladder problems, impotence, infertility, neoplasms, 1-4 and AIDSassociated renal syndromes. 5 These are relatively common among AIDS patients and may significantly affect the course of the disease and life expectancy, This review focuses on a relatively underdocumented topic of AIDS-associated testicular disorders, including testicular atrophy and endocrine abnormalities, opportunistic testicular and paratesticular infections, and testicular neoplasms.
