Application of Interleaved Bidirectional Converter on Pond Aerators with Electricity Sources from Solar Panels

2019
Nowadays the availability of natural resources is decreasing, especially fuel oil. Increasing demand without being accompanied by a large availability of natural resources is the main factor. Petroleum and coal are the largest resources used as fuel for electricity generation. That is why the price of electricity is becoming increasingly expensive. This problem is experienced by fish farmers who need an aerator machine to be placed in the pond. Microgrids are micro-scale power generation systems and use renewable energy as an energy source for electricity generation. The use of solar cells as an energy source for aerators will optimize the operational costs of fish farmers because it is cheaper. To maintain the output voltage of solar panels and batteries to be constant, it is necessary to have a converter with a dual function that is capable of performing both activities. An interleaved bidirectional converter is a converter that can work on two sides. In addition, interleaved switching will increase the efficiency of energy conversion in the switching process through two-level switching. The microgrid system has the main source of solar panels to be stored on the battery. The output voltage of the solar panel is lowered from 24V to 14.4V to charge the battery. The use of a converter for battery charging needs using interleaved buck mode.To supply the Aerator Pump, the battery voltage is increased from 12V to 24V using interleaved boost mode.
