Motion detector to control the electrosurgical output.

2004
An electrosurgical pencil (100) comprising: an elongated housing (102); and a conductor (106) electrically element supported within the housing (102) and extending distally from the housing (102) and can be connected electrically conductive element (106) to a source of electrosurgical energy (G); and characterized by a disposed within the housing (102) and in electrical connection with the source of electrosurgical energy (G) motion sensor (224), the sensor (224) capable of detecting movement of the electrosurgical pencil (100) and communicating a signal to the source of electrosurgical energy (G) relating to the movement of the electrosurgical pencil (100), providing the source of electrosurgical energy (G) electrosurgical energy in response to the signal communicated from the sensor (224).
