Practical Solution of the Flexibility to Stiffness Transformation Problem With a Mathematical Assistant for the Personal Computer

This paper will show how a relatively complicated structural mechanics problem can be solved easily with a symbolic manipulation program. Specifically, the authors will demonstrate how program DERIVE can be used to determine the symbolic stiffness matrix for a non-prismatic frame element.
