Stepper drives of resonance type

1998
Principles have been developed for the design of resonance stepper drives (RSDs). An adaptive control algorithm has been worked out for these RSDs. It is shown experimentally that RSDs presents higher speed than traditional drives and that the use of an RSD allows lower energy expenses. Most advantage is gained when using an RSD in those cases when a load possesses inertial character. Their use in positioning is considered.
