Our study aims toidentify correlations between the metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases determinism.Material and methods: A retrospective study was carried out on a sample of 1463 patients ofwhich 734 patients met the diagnostic criteria of cardiometabolic syndrome, admitted in theClinic of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Hospital, Iasi, between 01.01. 2009-31.12.2009. Results: The incidence of cardiometabolic syndrome has a soft predominance onthe group 40-59 years (61.66%). The high level of hypertension was found in the patientsgroup 48-69 years (53.70%) and lowest in the patients group 25-38 years (11.35%) (p=0.001).The coronary heart diseases showed a significant difference between age groups: 48-69 years(41.80%), compared to 25-38 years (7.55%) (p=0.003). Heart failure is part of the same agedistribution curve (45%, 6.8%) (p=0.02). Conclusions: The metabolic syndrome is apredictor of the occurrence and development cardiovascular disease.
