Propagation properties of a controllable rotating elliptical Gaussian optical coherence lattice in oceanic turbulence

Abstract We propose a theoretical model for a rotating elliptical Gaussian optical coherence lattice (REGOCL) in oceanic turbulence. It is found that every sub-beam in the REGOCL maintains a controllable rotation within a certain distance, which plays a significant role in resisting the impact of turbulence and guaranteeing the beams quality which is characterized by the decreasing intensity Strehl ratio and power-in-the-bucket. Quite interestingly, we also demonstrate that the lattice constant can be served to modulate the evolution mode of REGOCL involving following steps: an ellipse Gaussian, ellipse Gaussian array and a flat-topped Gaussian then back to an ellipse Gaussian.
