Usefulness of ultrasonic strain measurement-based mechanical properties imaging technique toward realization of combined short time diagnosis/treatment

2003
Both on differential diagnosis for human in vivo malignancies of various soft tissues (e.g., liver, breast, etc.) and monitoring for the effectiveness of the various simple and low-invasive therapy (e.g., chemotherapy, thermal therapy, cryotherapy, etc.), we exhibit the superiority of our developed quasi-real time ultrasonic strain measurement-based mechanical properties reconstruction/imaging (shear modulus, visco-shear modulus, etc.) to conventional B-mode imaging. In the near future, suitable combination of such therapeutic techniques with our imaging technique will open up a new clinical style to allow diagnosis and the subsequently immediate treatment. This must substantially reduce the total medical expenses.
