Estimation of Economic Losses due to Condemnation of Meat and Edible Offal of Buffaloes

Economic losses due to complete/partial condemnation of meat and/or offal due to various conditions viz. cysticercosis, icterus, abscess, nodules etc. occurring in food animals were estimated in a total of 301 buffaloes slaughtered in Deonar Abattoir, Mumbai. 0.996% liver, 5.3% lungs and 1.66% carcasses of buffaloes were condemned leading to huge economic losses and loss of valuable proteins of animal origin.
