Obstructive sleep apnea, cardiometabolic risk, and levels of physical activity in Chilean adults
2017
Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a chronic respiratory disease of high prevalence, which is associated with cardiometabolic morbidity and mortality, but its association with physical activity levels (PAL) has been poorly studied. Material and method: From the National Health Survey 2010, the level of OSA risk was obtained in subjects ≥18 years, using a clinical prediction rule (CPR) based on the STOP-Bang Questionnaire. With the total score the subjects were classified as Low ( Results: Of the 5,069 subjects in the sample, 4,234 (83.5%) met the requirements of the PRC, 60% women. See results in Table.
Conclusion: OSA is associated with increased cardiometabolic risk and low levels of recreational physical activity.
