Experimental "hydralazine erythematodes" of the guinea pig.

1967
SummaryThe authors carried out experiments on 82 guinea-pigs for the purpose of eliciting "hydralazine erythematodes". Apresolin was administered per os in large doses, and injected together with incomplete Freund's adjuvant in smaller doses. The experiment lasted from 7 to 16 months. The authors succeeded in bringing about SLE-like disease in 17—23 % of the animals. In addition to the serologic and clinical positivity, non-specific tissue changes of polyvisceral character were also observed. As regards eliciting the clinical picture the authors stress the significance of the immune-pathomechanism rather than the role of the toxic factor.
