The article discusses and describes such technological techniques for the use of light in art and design as the formation of light aigrettes, the creation of volumes of scattered light, and the use of naked light sources. At the present stage of technological development of artificial lighting, it is necessary to come up with a comprehensive solution of the light environment of the interior, which includes separate technological methods of application of various lighting properties in order to organize a harmonious, aesthetically upgraded and user-friendly space. Accordingly, in the context of light environment study, it is necessary to analyze and characterize various technological techniques for the use of light in the visual arts, particularly in design. In the course of the research it was found that the technological method of forming light aigrettes is ensured by the presence of small particles capable of scattering light. Given the low power of a spotlight and high purity of the medium, a narrow beam of directional light is not visually perceived as an aigrette, but it emphasizes the plasticity of an illuminated object shape. The technique for creating light volumes of scattered light implies placing the light source inside light scattering shells, or illuminating end surfaces of volumetric structures composed of elements made with transparent material with dim outer end. The method of naked light use presumes individual compositional features for each of its types: fluorescent lamps need a composite element in the form of a straight light line of the same thickness and length; neon needs a composite element in the form of a luminous line of the same thickness, but with a sufficiently broad color palette and the ability to bend smoothly; LEDs need a light-dot composite element with an almost unlimited color palette and programmability. Further research in this area contemplates characterizing the impact of the artificial lighting development, scholarly research of the properties of light, and features of visual perception, on the visual arts .
