Power Smoothing Control Strategy for Direct-driven Wind Power System with Flywheel Energy Storage System

Based on the analysis of the operation features and control modes of direct-driven permanent magnet synchronous wind-power generator(DD-PMSG),this paper puts forward a control system and its strategy,which,free of the need to measure the wind speed,the flywheel energy storage system(FESS) is used to smooth the output active power of the PMSG system.This method can not only effectively reduce the fluctuations of grid power with wind power integration,but also enhance the stability of the generator converter DC voltage.By the simulation on a PMSG system with a flywheel energy storage unit,the results show that while making maximal use of wind energy,this proposed control strategy can achieve the output active power smoothing control and correspondingly improve the grid power quality.
