Cost function map matching algorithm on vehicle navigation system

Vehicle navigation systems are high-tech products in markets. Research of the navigation arithmetic is the key technology of the systems. Regarding map matching algorithm, this paper proposes an improvement on the map- matching with emphasis on how to eliminate the ambiguity in finding map-matching resolution by evaluating a cost function for each correction over time. And this leads to a practical vehicle-carried GPS Guidance System. To verify the results of the system, simulation results are shown and discussed to reveal that the positioning performance of integrated navigation system can be improved significantly.
