Signal Averaging Computer System for Perkin-Elmer 577 Infrared Spectrophotometer

1987
Abstract The performance of a Perkin-Elmer 577 Infrared Spectrophotometer has been significantly extended and improved by a Signal Averaging Computer System designed and constructed in-house. The computer system is universal in concept, utilising a custom made front-end controller. System performance has been demonstrated to be efficient when signal averaging spectra from weak samples and manipulating spectra to determine their chemical composition by, respectively, studying the adsorption of tert-butyl chloride on copper chloride supported on γ-Al 2 O 3 catalyst and deducing the aspirin spectrum from an aspirin/chloroform solution.
