The invention provides a universal plug and play (UPnP) system and a universal plug and play adapter. The universal plug and play system comprises a plurality of UPnP assemblies, each UPnP assembly comprises a terminal device and a UPnP adapter, the terminal device of each UPnP assembly is connected with the UPnP adapter via an input and output interface, and the UPnP adapter of each UPnP assembly is connected to a network via a network interface so that the connected terminal device is accessed based on a UPnP protocol. The UPnP adapters of the UPnP assemblies can be connected with each other via the network in a communication manner.
