Core Facility Management

2000
With the number of institutions and laboratories employing flow cytometric techniques, the formation of Core facilities has become a practical alternative to the large capital outlays required to acquire, set up and maintain flow cytometers on an individual basis. Key aspects of organizing a core facility involve laboratory management, quality control and instrument maintenance. By integrating the scheduling, quality control, maintenance and training within a centralized core facility, economies of scale can be archived for reducing associated expenditures. With instrumentation centralized, Quality Control procedures and instrument standardization can be better controlled.
