A modified unitcommitment isproposed inthis paperthatwouldbeupdated onthreedifferent cycles (daily, quarter-hourly andeveryminute).The24 hourupdatedunitcommitment wouldincludethe effects ofloadandslowtrendwindpowerchange that couldbepredicted 24hoursahead.Thequarterhourly updated unitcommitment wouldhandle thefast trendandcyclic changeinwindpowerthatcould be predicted onehouraheadandwouldcommitpeaking, regulation, andquickpickupandpossibly economic unitstohandle thesewindpowerchanges. Theminute updated unitcommitment wouldconnect or disconnect quickpickupunitsorwindturbines basedona15minuteaheadprediction ofcyclic wind powervariations withperiodsgreaterthan10 minutes.
