Osteogenesis composition and its use method
1993
PURPOSE: To provide an osteogenesis compsn. capable of forming a non- absorbable and long-lasting hard neobone in treatment of a bone fracture, skeletal defect, surgical restoration and maxillofacial reconstruction. CONSTITUTION: This osteogenesis compsn. includes the mineral disappearing bone substrate (DBM) opearbtively bonded to a tumor growth factor-β (TGF-β) and a pharmaceutically permissible carrier and is used for stimulating the generation of the bone in the vital region where the formation of the neobone is desired. The DBM is the bone deriv. prepd. by subjecting the bone to mineral disappearance with hydrochloric acid, then to freeze drying and is mixed with the TGF-β of the amt. sufficient for the TGF-β to give rise to a substantially irreversible bond to the DMB. When a patient is dosed with this compsn., bone derivation is induced and the hard non-absorbable neobone is formed. The compsn. is preferably formed as a malleable and plastic substrate of a non-liquid type which may be so shaped as to comply with the section where the growth of the bone is desired. The neobone may be formed in accordance with the form and shape of this substrate. COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
