Housing Privatization in Transition Countries: Institutional Features and Outcomes

We provide an overview of privatization policies adopted on both sides of the former Iron Curtain. As Post-Soviet transition countries commenced the process of transferring ownership of homes to the private sector more than two decades ago, it is already possible to fully observe the outcomes of this process and to compare them with the earlier experience of Western Europe. Our aim is to compile the privatization strategies and their outcomes and to present a compact material that facilitates further analyses of housing privatization.
