Y-Arrangement Seven-Core Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier

A novel Y-arrangement seven-core erbium-doped fiber amplifier has been modeled and characterized in terms signal gain, noise figure (NF) cross talk, and mode analysis for C-band optical communication system. The optimum designing parameters used for the proposed model of Y-arrangement EDFA are size of the core (Rco) and cladding (Rca)—10, 125 µm and pitch (Λ)—28 µm. A highest gain 42.25 dB with the lowest crosstalk of −42.07 dB has been obtained at 1550–1555 nm. The performance analysis of a Y-arrangement MC-EDFA is found to be in good agreement with available literature, and results are useful for the fabrication of MC-EDFA to meet explosive bandwidth and data rate demand in the area of a high-speed optical communication system.
